Citrus County free food pantries.

The charities as well as non-profit operated food pantries listed below help struggling Citrus County families. The hours of operation of each center vary as well as the exact type of assistance administered. However these food banks may offer fresh produce and baked goods, vouchers for shopping for holiday meals, canned food, baby formula, or even frozen meat to their clients.

Since the root cause of hunger also needs to be addressed in order to ensure the family can provide for themselves, many of the food pantries hold parent education classes or budgeting sessions. These will help them learn how to shop for affordable yet healthy groceries. Or this includes applications to SNAP food stamps or USDA programs.

The other option in Citrus County is a soup kitchen. These are not just for the homeless, but families in poverty can get a free meal, including at Christmas or Thanksgiving.
