Butte County free Christmas and holiday assistance programs.
The two main programs that provide free Christmas toys in Butte County are Adopt a Family as well as Toys-for-Tots. These resources provide gifts to children under the age of 15 or so, provided their parents meet the income qualifications that are in place.
However there are some instances in which maybe a toy is not needed, but the family is instead seeking a free Thanksgiving turkey or Christmas meal. Several churches and charities also offer this service as well. They will either pass out a free basket of holiday food to the family, or serve a meal to anyone that wants one. There are also Meals on Wheels services for seniors, the homebound, and disabled in Butte County.
When applying for a holiday assistance, applications are normally processed in September or October. Resources are limited, but when possible, gifts, food, and other items are available.
