Experts realize that preventing evictions is much better than trying to place a homeless individual into shelter or other housing. So the intent of the Homeless Assistance Program (HAP) is to prevent evictions and to make available a Continuum of Services. The program is aimed at people who are at risk of becoming homeless (near homeless) or even some aid is available for the currently homeless. Participants who receive rent help need to demonstrate that with the prevention and intervention services provided by the HAP service components, that after receiving the aid they would be able to meet their basic needs in the immediate and near future and become self-sufficient.
In addition to the standard counseling and case management services, the organization also provides payments for rent or mortgage arrearage for apartments, homes and mobile home owners. receive help for rental costs for mobile home and mobile home lots, funds to pay security deposits, and grants for utilities to prevent and/or end homelessness.
