The leading non-profit agency to call in the region for information or financial assistance is the Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency. Call the agency at (423) 949-2191. The programs offered are specific to the local county or town.

The resources and services offered to Pikeville and Bledsoe County families and individuals includes:

  • Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.
  • Child and Adult Care Food Program
  • Shelter Plus Care for individuals who need a place to stay for a period of time. Homeless Assistance is also provided.
  • Weatherization can help people save money on their utility, water, and cooling bills.

Salvation Army has multiple locations around the immediate area. The phone numbers to dial include 423.756.1023 (McCallie Ave. branch), dial 423.698.4484 for the (East Lake Corps Center, or call 423.499.0216 for the main office. They may be able to offer emergency services and financial aid for the low income, those in poverty, or unemployed. Possible help for paying rent, utilities, and cooling bills may be offered to qualified applicants.
