Bastrop County rent and housing assistance.

There are three main housing programs in Bastrop County. They include emergency rental assistance, HUD section 8 vouchers, as well as low income housing/apartments. Each one of the resources has their own terms and conditions, but in general they can help families pay their rent or security deposits.

The charities focus on ending homelessness in the community. There is assistance for very low income families with a job, women fleeing domestic violence, as well as seniors or the disabled. Note most of the housing programs, especially vouchers or grants for paying rent, have a waiting list. Many Bastrop County residents may either not qualify or they will be referred to another local agency.

When applying for a grant or loan, bring proof of income, residency, and copies of the lease as well as utility bills. Only when all criteria have been met, and funding allows, may money be issued for paying back rent.
