Rental assistance programs Ascension Parish.

Find how to get help paying rent, housing costs such as a security deposit and other financial aid in Ascension Parish. When facing eviction or when a low-income family needs to move, tenants with a source of income can apply for emergency rental assistance. Ascension Parish churches, charities including the Salvation Army, and government social service agencies may offer either grants or loans. The funds will help with rent, and the homeless may be placed into shelters or transitional housing as well.

Many of the housing programs are paid for using Emergency Solution Grants (ESG), which is a federal government funded program. It can pay for:

-Security deposits, storage costs, or moving expenses.
-Back rent or first month payments.
-Mortgages and utilities.
-Other housing costs too; not just rent.
-Legal aid needed to fight the eviction, including referrals to pro-bono law firms.
-If none of the resources below can support then, then find other programs that help pay rent..

Any funds for paying rent in Ascension Parish are combined with case management services. All applicants need to agree to this. It involves everything from budgeting to saving, employment and more. Families need to develop, and prove, the ability to pay future bills and rental expenses on their own. As financial aid is for emergencies only.
