Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
This is a federal government and state funded program and it is administered through Illinois Department of Public Aid. The purpose of LIHEAP is to assist low to moderate income persons by offsetting the rising cost of home energy. They can help them pay the bills through direct financial assistance, free cash grants, energy counseling, education and outreach. Help fro LIHEAP can also be provided for propane, natural gas, heating oil, fuel oil, coal, electricity, and gas bills. In addition, emergency service and crisis grants are available if a household has been or is about to be disconnected from their energy source or a delivered fuel supplier has refused to deliver and their fuel source or heating tank contains 10% or less of its capacity.

Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP)
Another way to save on energy bills is from free weatherization upgrades. This was designed to help the elderly, low income, and the disabled make their homes more energy efficient. The savings can be achieved by insulating floors, attics, sidewalls, replacing broken glass, windows and doors, and sealing cracks throughout the structure. People can save hundreds of dollars per year.

Free School Supplies
The Two Rivers School Supply project provides free book bags and school supplies in the fall for income eligible students Pre-K through high school in Adams, Brown, Pike and Schuyler counties.

Grants For Housing Repairs
If you are a homeowner that meets household income eligibility guidelines and if you are in need of home repairs, accessibility modifications or rehabilitation to address either the health and / or safety concerns, you may be eligible for low interest loans or cash grants from this housing program.
