I am a 29 year old Christian woman in need of some assistance. I am wondering about your assistance program and what your policies were. After a long year with a bad roommate, and some really poor financial decisions on my part, I was left with an overdrawn account and a large rent bill and numerous debts. My cousin moved in with me two months ago after her college graduation but recently lost her job and has to move home leaving me in the lurch with the rent. I admit that I have made mistakes financially and am upside down due to my own poor stewardship.

I have been through Dave Ramsay's Financial Peace University which has been immensely helpful. I know what I need to do to remedy the situation, the problem is two current issues that are keeping me from getting my head above water. I have met with a friend who works in the financial sector and have created a budget keeping in line with Mr. Ramsay's ideas.

In the mess of my former roommate, I had to get a pay day loan. It started a vicious cycle that needs to end. I also was left with a large utility bill due to her non-payment. I have paid that bill but it has left my bank account with a very large overdraft. If I were able to get those two issues out of my way, I would on the road to financial recovery. The overdraw is $450 and the loan total due is $562.50.

I have a $659 rent bill coming due on the 1st and am wondering what my options are. If I could somehow get the overdraw and the loan out of the way I know that I can handle things from there. I have come up with a workable budget and know that I can stick to it…I simply can’t without assistance on the other two things though.

I would appreciate any help you can provide!

Payday loans are hard to eliminate, as people get in that cycle of taking out a loan, can't pay it, then get another payday loan. The itnerest rates make them very difficult to pay off. Your best best may be to talk to a non-profit credit counselor, or a debt settlement company. In either case, read the fine print before entering into any agreement with them. But your best bet to address the payday loan is just to earn more (part time job?), spend less, and free up cash.

how do I apply for one personal grant that will help me pay my personal debts, payday loans, and credit card bills. All I want is one personal grant so I can be debt free. I have a few different kind of debts (like BOA Visa card) so I am looking for one grant that I can apply for that will cover all the help I need. My total debt for everything that I would like the grant to cover is rounding to 15000 dollars. Is there anything that can help me get out of this debt where I wouldn't end up with more debt? I live in the state of Massachusetts. I do not want a bunch of adds on specif grants just one personal grant that covers what ever it is that I may need. Please and Thank you for you time.

The truth is that there are not really grants that can be used to pay off debts, credit card bills, etc. If you need help with Bank of America credit card debts, you can try a debt management plan. These are programs offered by BOA and credit counselors that take a methodical approach to paying off bills and debts. Many can be entered into at no cost, or with a minimal fee. Sometimes you can consolidate payday loans into the debt management plans as well.
