Human Development Commission also provides cost saving energy upgrades to low income households. The weatherization program will help people save on their heating and utility bills.

Basic needs, clothing, and referrals
The region is served by non-profit clothing closets and thrift stores. Low income families can often receive free items, such as clothes, school supplies, and holiday assistance. Volunteers and social workers at the Tuscola County centers can often provide referrals to other local non-profits that may have financial aid for paying bills or rent, food, and other support.
