South Carolina job training programs.
South Carolina administers several job and employment assistance programs for residents. Resources are available for the unemployed, veterans, disabled, and senior citizens that reside in the state. Counselors will work directly with clients and help them obtain job training and other career services.
The main government program, The Workforce Investment Act, is offered in the state by the South Carolina Employment Services Division of the Department of Employment and Workforce. It is administered locally by One Stop Career Centers as well as SCWorks Centers. The so called WIA programs help the unemployed get a job and acquire new skills or education. In addition the program will help businesses meet their need for skilled workers.
This is a fairly extensive program. It can support veterans, dislocated/unemployed residents, youth and others. Most of the job training is provided by WIA through certified providers throughout the state. These counselors and specialists are committed to assisting job-seekers with obtaining the education and skills that they need for so called in-demand jobs. As indicated, it is run in local towns and cities by the SC Works centers, so call them for more information or to apply for help.
Another federal government resource is known as Trade Assistance Adjustment. This is funded by the United States Department of Labor. It can offer different types of assistance to workers who have been affected by foreign competition, including increased imports. Other people who can benefit from Trade Assistance include workers whose production or the service they performed has been outsourced to another country.
The federal government funded Trade Assistance Adjustment (TAA) program offers impacted workers a complete package of benefits and support. It was created in an effort to assist dislocated workers and help them obtain new, relevant skills and experience. These resources should help them compete for jobs in today’s still somewhat challenging economy.
Vocational Rehabilitation is for the disabled in South Carolina. This program can help them find employment in their local town or county. Some of the many services offered as part of this resource include physical restoration, rehabilitation counseling, training, placement, diagnostic and evaluation services, and access to specialized equipment. For example, South Carolina may provide them with artificial appliances such as specialized computers.

This is made up of many non-profit organizations, SCWorks Centers and importantly 16 technical colleges. These various institutions offer qualified students certificates, scholarships, degrees and free training programs. Topics and classes covered include business, health, and industrial and engineering technology, among many others.
In addition to those resources, the technical colleges also offer individuals many short-term, day and evening programs. These will provide students and others from the community, such as seniors, the ability to either learn or update the skills they currently have. This is offered for currently employed people and those who are unemployed and are seeking jobs. Many technical college courses transfer any earned credits to regional or even national colleges and universities too.
