Assistance for paying energy bills
The local non-profit agency, Central Susquehanna Opportunities, Inc. (phone 570-644-6575) offers a couple different programs to help people pay their heating, energy, and gas bills.
Crisis Assistance Refueling Energy Services - A maximum of up to $250 will be paid per qualified household. the money is paid directly to the customers power or utility company. The energy assistance program will provide a variety of financial assistance and energy related services to low income, the working poor, and other qualified individuals and or households. Services offered from the Crisis Assistance Refueling Energy Services program fall into two main categories. They include Energy Bill Assistance Services as well as the federal government and state of Pennsylvania funded Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). , etc.
Another non-financial assistance program offered is counseling, referrals, and information on programs from the government and directly from utility companies. In most cases, in order to receive energy bill help applicants will need to have exhausted all other sources of assistance including but limited to: government funded LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program), Faith Based Organizations, the Salvation Army, and other charities.
