Salvation Army of Edwards Colorado offers several forms of financial assistance. Get help with paying rent, utility and energy bills, and a food pantry. The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is run by the local Social Services office. Call 1-800-225-6136. The local government office, and in particular the LIHEAP program, may be able to help needy Colorado residents pay their winter utility and heating bills. Get information on government programs such as health care, free food pantries and banks, and other forms of aid. For example, commodities are offered as a once-a-month supply of federal government surplus foods available for low-income families and individuals in the region. Some of the other programs they may be able to help with include Medicare and Medicaid, and the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing Program. Eagle Care Medical Clinic, which can be called at 970-569-7520, can offer high quality, yet very affordable health care to uninsured or underinsured persons as well as the low income and unemployed who live in Eagle County.
Northwest Colorado Council of Governments runs, among other things, the Weatherization Program, which is a free government funded service for low-income as well as working poor residents of Colorado. Qualified individuals may be able to save money by using less energy in their homes.
